DUKES OF HAZZARD ENOS' RACE CAR

Review by James N. Simpson

Eno's Race Car has the best image of the character Enos (and his hound) of any bonus magnet/sticker. This one's a sticker. This alone convinced me to pick this up before I even noticed the car that comes with it. Eno's Race Car was part of the 3rd release of 6 cars. All I really remember about this car is that Enos drove it in a smash them up derby type thing one episode, it's been a while since I've seen this show. And that's the thing, Johnny Lightning really should have provided a brief synopsis somewhere on the packaging, explaining about this car and what episode/s it appeared in. This is by no means a unique problem with just this vehicle, there are many spread over the six (at time of this review and there's so many cars they haven't done yet there will be heaps more) Dukes of Hazzard releases where a similar reliance on memory is needed. Release 3 also brought some of the other most popular (thereby hard to find now) vehicles of the six releases. They were the most similar to actual used in TV show General Lee, Uncle Jesse's Chevy Ute and the Double Zero Mustang. Six vehicles made up release 3 and the other two were the Finchburg County Sherriff (red and white) police car and Molly Hargrove's Plymouth Roadrunner. Release 3 kept the brilliant innovation of the packaging from release 2 where you can view the vehicle in the packet from all six sides including through the back of the blister pack. Unfortunately though Johnny Lightning did away with the bonus magnet and replaced it with a sticker instead. However they kept the same rectangle format that was much more popular than the cut around the characters way they did with series 1. So there's no difference in viewing the sticker to the magnet if kept in the packaging but obviously a magnet does not bend and droop over time like a sticker does standing behind the car on display. Like all Dukes of Hazzard Johnny Lightning vehicles, the normal cardboard backing with a small plastic blister has been replaced by the whole thing being entombed in plastic. I like this as it certainly ensures if you are a keeper in packaging type person that it stays in great condition, even if you buy it online and it comes through the post. My only criticism is they could reduce the top part in size (above sticker) as it would then fit on more smaller shelves in people's houses to display it. See more.

THE DUKES OF HAZZARD-R3 UNCLE JESSE'S CHEVY PICKUP

Review by James N Simpson

It took up to third Dukes of Hazzard release series for Uncle Jesse's Chevy Pickup (Ute) to make an appearance. Release 3 also brought some of the other most popular (thereby hard to find now) vehicles of the six releases (so far at time of this review). They were the most similar to actual used in TV show General Lee, Double Zero Mustang (popular by collectors who don't even like Dukes of Hazzard) and Eno's Racing Car (popular in no small part to the sticker of the Enos in uniform and hound). Six vehicles made up release 3 and the other two not mentioned were Molly Hardgrove's Plymouth Roadrunner and the Finchburg County Sherriff (red and white police car). The sticker with this one is Uncle Jesse feeding a piglet with a baby's milk bottle. My only criticism is they could reduce the top part in size (above sticker) as it would then fit on more shelves in people's houses to display it. See more.

JOYRIDE 1/18 SMOKEY & THE BANDIT 1977 TRANS AM

Smokey and the Bandit is a 1977 movie starring Burt Reynolds, Sally Field, Jackie Gleason, Jerry Reed, Pat McCormick, Paul Williams, and Mike Henry. It inspired several other trucking films, including two sequels, Smokey and the Bandit II (originally known as Smokey and the Bandit Ride Again in the U.K.), and Smokey and the Bandit Part 3. There were also a series of 1994 television movies from original director/writer Hal Needham loosely based on the earlier version, with Emmy-winning actor Brian Bloom now playing Bandit. The three original movies introduced two generations of the Pontiac Trans Am (while the TV-movie version drives the Dodge Stealth). The film was the second highest grossing film of 1977, beaten only by Star Wars.

The movie was filmed primarily in Georgia in the cities of McDonough and Jonesboro. The scenes in Texarkana were filmed in Jonesboro and the surrounding area, and many of the chase scenes were filmed in the surrounding areas and in McDonough. The scene at the race track was filmed at Lakewood Speedway at the old Lakewood Fairgrounds on the south side of Atlanta. The roller coaster seen in the movie was the Greyhound. It had not been used for some time and was repainted for the first Smokey and the Bandit film. It was destroyed in the second film and a flash back scene used in the third.

The film made use of five modified 1977 Pontiac Trans Ams that were each built according to the required stuntwork. All were damaged during the rigors of filming the stunts. The particular car used to jump over the river towards the middle of the movie was reportedly totaled doing the stunt.

Smokey the Bandits Trams Am famed from the late 70's comedy that not only capitalizes on the CB craze but also featured some of the wildest automotive stunts ever filmed. Etrls model features opening doors detailed interior, openin bonnet. See more.

JAMES BOND ROLLS ROYCE 'GOLDFINGER'

Goldfinger (1964) is the third spy film in the James Bond series, and the third to star Sean Connery as the fictional MI6 agent James Bond. It is based on the novel of the same name by Ian Fleming. The film stars Shirley Eaton as Bond Girl Jill Masterson who is famous for her iconic death, Honor Blackman and Gert Fröbe. The film was produced by Albert R. Broccoli and Harry Saltzman, and was the first of four Bond films directed by Guy Hamilton. The story has Bond following gold smuggler Auric Goldfinger, who plans a nuclear detonation inside the Fort Knox gold depository.

The film was the first official Bond blockbuster and made cinematic history by recouping its production costs in record-setting time, despite a budget equal to that of the two preceding films combined. Goldfinger was also the first Bond film to use a pop star to sing the theme song during the titles, a hallmark that would follow for every Bond film since except On Her Majesty's Secret Service.
A 1937 Phantom III painted yellow-gold is Goldfinger's vehicle in the movie of the same name. The vintage Rolls Royce driven by the deadly Korean Manservant, Oddjob, has a precious cargo - Gold has been melted down and recast into parts of the car's bodywork to allow Goldfinger to smuggle his bullion around the world. Other Phantom III are in films such as; The Yellow Rolls-Royce (This particular Phantom is Goldfinger's), Major Barbara (1941), The Millionairess (1960), Doctor in Clover (1966), etc.

James Bond Rolls Royce & Odd Job Figure. Auric Goldfinger's mobile Fort Knox is reproduced here to 1:43 scale, and features a highly detailed interior, full exterior decoration which includes white-wall tyres and hub caps, the original personalized number plates, the Rolls Royce Lady and a separate figure of the notorious Oddjob in characteristic pose. CORGI MOONRAKER SPACE SHUTTLE JAMES BOND 007

Moonraker (1979) is the eleventh spy film in the James Bond series, and the fourth to star Roger Moore as the fictional MI6 agent James Bond. The film, directed by Lewis Gilbert, co-stars Lois Chiles, Michael Lonsdale and Richard Kiel. In the film, Bond is sent to investigate the mysterious theft of a space shuttle, leading him to Hugo Drax, billionaire owner of the shuttle-manufacturing firm. Along with space scientist Holly Goodhead, who later is identified as a CIA agent also investigating Drax, Bond follows the trail of clues from California to Venice, Italy, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and the Amazon rain forest, and finally into outer space in a bid to prevent a genocidal plot to wipe out the world and re-create human existence with a master race.

Moonraker was intended by its creator Ian Fleming to be turned into a film even before he completed the novel in 1954, as he based the novel on a manuscript he had written even earlier than this. The producers of the James Bond film series had originally intended to release Moonraker in 1973 with Roger Moore making his debut as Bond, but the film was put on hold and finally released in 1979 to coincide with the science fiction genre which had become extremely popular during this period with films such as Star Wars (1977).

Derek Meddings, a long-time contributor to the James Bond series, received an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects nomination for the special effects used in the film and its space scenes.

JAMES BOND - ASTON MARTIN V12 VANQUISH

Die Another Day (2002) is the twentieth spy film in the James Bond series, and the fourth and last to star Pierce Brosnan as the fictional MI6 agent James Bond. In the pre-title sequence, Bond leads a mission to North Korea, during which he is found out and, after killing a rogue North Korean colonel, he is captured and imprisoned. More than a year later, Bond is released as part of a prisoner exchange, and he follows a trail of clues in an effort to earn redemption by finding his betrayer and learning the intentions of billionaire Gustav Graves, who turns out to be the same colonel he supposedly killed. Bond pursues the colonel to stop him from using a satellite to reignite the war between North and South Korea.

Die Another Day, produced by Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, and directed by Lee Tamahori, is the 20th film in the series and marks the franchise's 40th anniversary (begun in 1962 with Sean Connery starring in Dr. No). It includes references to each of the preceding films and also alludes to several Bond novels.

The film received mixed reviews—some critics praised Lee Tamahori's work on the film, while others pointed out the damage caused to the plot by the excessive use of CGI. In spite of its flaws, it became the highest grossing James Bond film to that date. It was distributed by MGM themselves in North America, and internationally through 20th Century Fox.

The Aston Martin Vanquish is a grand tourer, designed by Ian Callum and manufactured by Aston Martin. From its 2001 introduction to its cancellation, it was Aston Martin's flagship vehicle. Its rise to recognition by the wider public came after being featured as the official James Bond car in Die Another Day, the twentieth James Bond film. It was also featured in the original manuscript of Stephenie Meyer's Twilight as Edward Cullen's "special occasion". Edited out of the final copy, it made a special appearance in the the fourth book of the series, Breaking Dawn. It was discontinued in 2007. The Aston Martin DBS V12 will temporarily replace it atop Aston's lineup pending the 2010 introduction of a replacement.

The car is equipped with all the usual refinements, including front-firing rockets, hood-mounted target-seeking guns, spike-producing tires, again and a passenger ejector seat in homage to the original Aston Martin DB5, but used here in a clever bit of improvisation by 007 to right the car when it's been flipped onto its roof. The Aston was also equipped with "adaptive camouflage" – a cloaking device that allowed it to become effectively invisible at the push of a button. This vehicle was also featured in the video games Nightfire (2002) and Everything or Nothing (2004). Buy it now.

HARRY POTTER DIECAST KNIGHT BUS COLLECTORS EDITION SET

Each set comprises a First Shot, Resin and finished product. Numbered Limited Edition Certificate. High quality finish hinged flip lid box to look like Harrys school trunk. Authentic 1:43 scale. Limited Edition of 2000. After an argument with his Uncle Vernon, Harry PotterTM grabs his school trunk and his owl, Hedwig, and leaves Privet Drive. He is picked up by the Knight BusTM, emergency transport for the stranded witch or wizard, and taken on an exciting journey through London to the Leaky Cauldron.

"The Knight Bus Collectors Edition Set, comes beautifully boxed in a faux steamer-trunk type case. The three versions of the Knight Bus inside are nicely displayed, and give you a pretty good idea of what is involved in the final steps of the development behind a toy model. I'm quite sure that no one ever intended this to be a kid's toy. If these are ever going to be taken out of their display case it is just to examine them once and put 'em back, or possibly park them on someone's desk between the stapler, paper weight and the other executive toys. It might seem a bit over priced, but it is still a must have for any Harry Potter completest, or the beginning collector, as a companion to that nice boxed set of the novels." (Reviewed by DC Smith).
